    Support Group

Parenting while your spouse or partner is deployed is hard!

You feel isolated and alone. You have to parent your kids on your own. You don’t have a support system that understands what you are going through. You don’t get a break and have to be on 24/7. You feel like you are going crazy. You are exhausted, overwhelmed, and stressed. You don’t know where to turn for support.

You want to feel supported by others who understand the struggles of having a spouse or partner who is deployed and having to soloparent. You want to want to feel confident in yourself to be able to be the best version of yourself for you and your family during this time.

You ARE NOT ALONE! We can support you in our peer support group where we will discuss mindfulness and coping skills, our emotions, and ways of balancing your needs and your children’s needs.

Meet Your Peer Facilitator: Sultana Karim

I am mom, an Army Reservist military spouse & law enforcement spouse who have experienced many transitions during my spouse’s military and civilian career. From my spouse working long work hours in his law enforcement job and soloparenting to deployments and soloparenting, I understand the feeling of loneliness, overwhelm, and stress that occurs during these transitions as well as lack of support and community. I am passionate about serving and supporting my military and first responder community.

Additionally, I am a licensed therapist in MD, VA, & MI where I provide therapy services to those who are pregnant, postpartum, parenting, and experienced mood, anxiety, and trauma.
